Was "Baroness Bicycle basher" right?

84 year-old Tory Baroness Sharples has admitted bashing a cyclist with her handbag, after the cyclist ran a red light, almost knocking her over outside the House of Lords.

Judging from her fearsome pose in the photo above, I would have thought the cyclist was scared witless.

But physical violence as part of road rage is wrong even when meted out by an ageing Baroness outside the House of Lords. Also, if you are involved in making laws, you shouldn't take the law into your own hands - you should set an example.

Having said all that, I think we can forgive the esteemed Baroness-type personage. I wonder what was in the handbag? If it was just a lipstick, it wouldn't have hurt. But if it contained a fully charged hip-flask, emergency incontinent pads, a tube of Fisherman's friends, and the like, it might have hurt.

Presumably Lady Sharples is following Lady Thatcher's example...
