Karzai objects to Ashdown as UN envoy, reports Earth Times. I thought it had gone a bit quiet on the Ashdown Afghan front. Apparently, the Afghan Prime Minister's objection to Paddy was registered during a conversation at the ski resort of Davos with David Cameron and Condeleeza Rice. I think that's what's known in diplomatic circles as an "off-piste discussion".
