Paddy pulls out of Afghan role

Funny that. I was rummaging around in the foliage of Google news at 11.30pm last night and saw a story in the Earth Times (what is that?) saying Hamid Karzai, the Afghan PM, had expressed dissatisfaction with the potential appointment of Paddy Ashdwon as UN Envoy to Afghanistan.

He was seen as too strong a figure who was potentially a rival for Karzai and "too controversial"...apparently.

Paddy has now pulled out of the role.

...Back to being a "gardener and grandfather".

Poor Paddy. Think of a quote from Wittgenstein, quick!
