Many congratulations to Barack Obama for a spectacular win in Iowa, made more remarkable by the extraordinary turnout - almost double last time. Hilary Clinton is going to have to work very hard to catch up from this sort of start - eight points behind Obama.
I am delighted that Iowan Democrats have confirmed what I have always thought about Obama - he is a clear-thinking and impressively statesmanlike politician.
My double bet with Stan James of a year or more ago has come true in Iowa - Obama and Huckabee out front. But it is only the start and it will be fascinating to see what happens now.
