Alan Coren 1938-2007

Stumbling about on the Radio Four website I saw the announcement of the death of writer and broadcaster, Alan Coren. That's very sad. He was an extremely witty man both on air and in his writings. He used to be able to conjure with words to brilliant effect. He also came across as genuinely affable.
Here are a few of his best quotes:
Democracy consists of choosing your dictators after they've told you what you think it is you want to hear
I wonder sometimes if manufacturers of foolproof items keep a fool or two on their payroll to test things.
Since both its national products, snow and chocolate, melt, the cuckoo clock was invented solely in order to give tourists something solid to remember it by.
