Message "excuse me"

The Republican National Convention has now started. A real vote winner for them made a speech last night. George Bush. Excellent.

What seems to have possibly happened in the last week is that there has been a sort of "message swopsies" between the two camps. If you like, a sort of double "excuse me" in that old-fashioned dance when partners swopped around.

Obama/Biden now looks like the ticket of judgment, stable temperament and experience.

McCain/Palin nows look like the maverick, gut-instinct, "change" ticket.

I expect a superb speech from Sarah Palin tonight. A real barnstormer. They will love her. They've got to. And she's spent the last three days in a deep bunker with some of the best speech writers in the world (no doubt) tooling up her speech.

And, based on her performance in Alaska, I expect her to do well in the Veep debate against Biden.

But when people start laughing at you (see Daily Show clip below), you need to be worried.
