Four major polls give Obama a siginificant boost

Update: Now it's FIVE! ARG Poll: Obama Leads By Six Points

MSNBC's First Read says that the Palin episode has taken the focus off Obama:

It seems like it’s been a month -- though it's been just a few days -- that the RNC or McCain hasn't had a sustained attack on the Illinois Democrat. As we've learned this summer, when this campaign is about Obama, the race is a lot closer than when it's not about him. And right now, thanks to Palin, it's not about him.

(So let's keeping yabbering on about Palin then - great!)

And indeed, there have been a series of positive improvements in national polls out in the last few hours - we're talking increases based on polls by the same polling organisation here, not mixed polling organisation results (see below). It will be interesting to see if these increases feed through to the most important polls - the "toss-up" state polls.

The McCain campaign have just issued (for them) record August donation receipt numbers. It will be fascinating to see the Obama numbers - as that campaign has been going crazy with emails to supporters to tap them up for $5,$10,$25 at time.

CBS Poll: Obama Leads By Eight Points (up from three points before the convention. This is their first poll including both the presidential and Veep nominee in the question)

Gallup: Obama Leads By Six Points representing a four point convention bounce

USAT/Gallup: Obama Leads By Seven Points up from four points

Diageo/Hotline Poll: Obama Leads By Nine Points up from four points

With a mega hat-tip and "I am not worthy" to Taegan Goddard's Political Wire.
