Tory paranoia hour

For sheer "reds under the bed", frothing at the mouth paranoia, it is hard to beat Tory frontbencher Jeremy Hunt's questioning of the BBC poll which showed that the "world wanted Obama":

I'd like to know where the money is coming from the fund these polls. If they are funded from the commercial profits of BBC World News, that's one thing but I would question whether it is something UK taxpayers should be financing through the licence fee.

Are all BBC polls going to be halted by a Conservative government if they are likely to show "the wrong result" ?

The truth is that the more Americans are told that the rest of the world wants Obama, the more they are likely to get the hump and vote for McCain. you only have to look back at the Grauniad's Ohio Lovvie Letter writing campaign in 2004 to see that.
