It is a great relief to hear that the Foot and Mouth outbreak may be an isolated incident.
Last time, I was amazed by the trail of the genesis of the disease borne through movements of livestock which zig-zagged the country from Cumbria to Cornwall. I remember the days when livestock travelled only a few miles from farm to market to slaughter-house.
This outbreak appears to be a vaccine strain which, incredibly, has so far been seen to spread just three miles.
