Trust: Difficult to gain, easy to throw away

A Newsnight poll reported in the Daily Express shows Menzies Campbell as the most trusted party leader:

Asked to say whether he was trustworthy, less than a third replied yes for Mr Brown (31%) compared with 38% for Mr Cameron and 41% for Liberal Democrat leader Ming Campbell.

I think we should remember what a difficult commodity people's trust is to gain. It is also easily thrown away - and once thrown away, it can't be retrieved, as Tony Blair found out.
